Brian Chirlo has won no fewer than seven GRAMMY® Awards for his work with artists spanning many genres including Tony Bennett, Justin Bieber and Amy Winehouse. Brian began his incredible career at the prestigious Bennett Studios working with artists John Mayer, Micheal Buble, Wyclef Jean amongst many others. After Bennett’s untimely closure, he headed out to Los Angeles where he was in-house at Pacifique Studios and returned to New York City and has been a freelance engineer ever since. Some of his clients, current and past include Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Pharrell, Sebastian Kole, and many other international acts.
Sam Obey is a musician, producer, deejay, and label boss based in Brooklyn, NY. Over the past several years as Obey City, he’s released a pair of sister EPs on the UK label LuckyMe, been featured on BBC Radio and toured throughout the US, Japan, Australia and Europe. His eclectic blend of electronic, soul, hip-hop and dance music has allowed him to share the stage with everyone from Kode 9, Cashmere Cat and Kelela to the Flatbush Zombies Over the past year he has been finishing up an ambitious solo LP debut under the name Sam O.B and, in addition to his own personal output and collaborations, has continually helped curate parties throughout NYC and a stream of successful releases through his label Astro Nautico.
Michael Hatsis aka Banginclude is a Brooklyn, New York based producer and teacher who specializes in all things Ableton. The former Dubspot instructor and course developer cut his teeth in music with the first version of Live and continues to use it in innovative ways today. Michael specializes in creating music for the dance floor and has used Ableton Live to do everything from sound design and mixing to live performances and DJing, as well as production, Max for Live programming, and visuals. As an artist, Michael aka Banginclude has released music for Buraka Som Sistema’s world renowned global bass label Enchufada, as well as Daniel Haacksman’s innovative Man Recordings. Recently, he released a Remix of Ralfi Pagan’s Latin Soul for the legendary Fania Records, which was the leading track on the EP. In addition, Michael is the co-host of NY’s biggest monthly experimental electronic music and controller hacking party, the Warper Party.
Marcus Aurelius Rosario aka Mawkus is a DJ, producer and radio host from California. A champion for all things radio, he worked for one of the most illustrious and award-winning public radio stations in the country, KSDS-FM San Diego’s Jazz 88.3, hosting weekly radio shows showcasing world music, jazz, blues, soul and rare groove. As a DJ, he’s shared the stage with notable world-class talent ranging from behemoth underground label crews like Fade To Mind and Body High to house music aficionados Soul Clap. He’s a part of Singapore-based label collective Darker Than Wax, currently hosting and producing two widely-acclaimed radio shows in New York via Brooklyn’s The Lot Radio and London’s Radar Radio. His radio shows have featured many prominent music figures like that of Lefto, Scratcha DVA, Obey City, Photay, Sosupersam and many more. You may have heard his DJ mixes or productions on XLR8R, KCRW, KPFK, KEXP, Rinse FM as well as countless music blogs.
Heinrich Zwahlen (aka Heinrich Wüste) started out the Ableton and Native Instruments curricula, by designing the courses at Dubspot, which brought Live, NI Komplete, and Maschine to the attention of a wider US public. Starting out musically as a guitarist/composer with the New Wave band Nasal Boys (CBS), he moved on to writing with synthesizers and sequencers in the early 80s, pioneering live electronic music sets, and collaborating with artist including Aboriginal Voices, Dieter Meier of Yello, and Gabi Delgado of DAF before moving to NYC through his work with HipHop legend Rammellzee. He recorded with Marty Rev of Suicide, Stuart Argabright, Arto Lindsay, before working for several years with HipHop producer Sam Sever (3rdBase/Downtown Science), specializing in sampling and synth production. He co-wrote songs with Timmy Regisford artist Billy, and signed an artist deal with Ten/Virgin (Soul2Soul/MaxiPriest) producing as Basscut with vocalist Elisa Burchett, and topped the US/UK dance charts with mixes by Satoshi Tomiie. In his NYC studio, he had major label clients throughout the 90s, recording HipHop, House, R&B, and Electro (Groove Theory, PDiddy’s BadBoy Management, Mantronix). Later he worked for JayZ, Curtis Mantronik, Sam Sever (Mowax), Coolio, and Phebe Snow just to name a few, while continuing to write and perform live electronic music with Basscut in major NY clubs (Palladium/Limelight/Roxy/USA), and in Europe, also releasing tracks on Profile/Smile, Delicious Vinyl and Ultra.
Mike Guerriero is a songwriter/producer who has reached #1 on the Billboard chart. In addition to writing several top charting Billboard hits, Mike G has worked for major labels including Atlantic Records, Warner Bros. Nashville, and in A&R for Columbia Record’s imprint, “Music With A Twist.” Mike has also had the opportunity in his career to work with such talents as Rockwilder, Shontelle, U-God of Wu-Tang, Kevin Drew, Kathy Sommer, and Melanie Fontana. As an entrepreneur, Mike created the company GEM Music Demos with industry veteran Michael Ellis that specializes in making cutting-edge music demos for unsigned artists and has also run several successful music studios in NYC.
Ned Nice is a DJ & Turntablist based in Brooklyn, NY. Inspired by DJ Premier’s cuts & production, Ned bought an old pair of Gemini turntables the summer before his senior year of college. A self taught DJ, he spent countless hours alone on the turntables, studying and buying records at local thrift stores, all while holding down various 9-5 office jobs. After moving to NY in 2011, he caught the attention of the staff at Scratch DJ, and was asked to join the team as a teaching assistant, eventually becoming a full time instructor of the turntablism curriculum. In 2013, he made his battle debut by qualifying as a finalist in the DMC Battle for US Supremacy. Since then, he has built his reputation on the competitive circuit, taking 4th place in the 2015 New Orleans DMC Regional, 5th place in the 2015 NY DMC Regional and 3rd place in the 2016 Atlanta DMC Regional.
Nathan Rosenberg has designed and operated music production facilities for over two decades. In addition to composing and producing soundtracks for games, ads, and short films, Nathan’s production, composition, mixing, mastering, and engineering clients have come to depend upon his technical expertise, innovation, and deep musicality. They include the likes of Luscious Jackson, Elliot Mazer (Neil Young, Santana, Dido, Janis Joplin), and Poe—where his work earned him a gold record. A regular contributor to publications such as “Recording Magazine”, Nathan is also known for the generosity with which he shares his extensive knowledge of music, audio, and production.
Vasco Ispirián is from Madrid and over the last 15 years has worked as an electronic engineer, professional DJ, producer, and music technology tutor. He studied classical guitar when he was young and first became interested in electronic music in the early 90s. He has been involved in various bands, a resident of world famous club ‘The Room’ in Madrid for more than eight years and has played in many clubs and festivals worldwide. Those experiences, combined with his study of electronics at the university, helped him develop his love of music and technology. Since then, he has been involved in music production and live performance using computers and other hardware. He has been teaching Ableton Live (Certified Trainer), Logic, Traktor, Reason, Cubase and Komplete in both Spanish and English, since 2008 as well as releasing his own music regularly since 2005 on various labels such as Dubhe, TEAM, Lessismore, Minuendo, Pong, RedSonja, Playgroundlabel. Lately he has been busy creating the label ‘Made In Green’ records with releases in tape, digital and vinyl.
Dave Garnish was DJing on Don FM as DJ Flight at age sixteen while studying music at the BRIT School in London with the guitar being his first instrument. In 1995, he set up Blah Parties in a joiner’s factory on Pitfield Street performing as Alf Garnish, spawning what happened after in Shoreditch, London. His engineering career began at Air Lyndhurst Hall, and then the EMI group which then consisted of The Townhouse, Abbey Road, The Manor and Olympic Studios. Artists include Janet Jackson, Madonna, Bjork, All Saints and Massive Attack. Producers ranged from Andrew Lloyd Webber to Nellee Hooper. Until 2001 Dave beta-tested for Emagic Logic Audio before they sold to Apple, in the same year he signed a publishing deal with Universal Music UK.
